Wake

Synopsis:
Not all dreams are sweet.

For seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people's dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie's seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime.

She can't tell anybody about what she does -- they'd never believe her, or worse, they'd think she's a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn't want and can't control.

Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the one. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else's twisted psyche. She is a participant....

Review:
I bought this book over break and may I just say it was worth the money and the wait. There has been a lot of hype about it and I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. There were twists and turns within the words that were unexpected but that fit so well into the story. There wasn't a character that didn't have any depth.

Wake took wishing of powers to a whole different level. It put a different perspective on what it means to have a gift...but one you can't control. As a teenager, Janie is just confused by everything around her and then, one top of that, she can see into people's minds...their dreams. At first I thought, how cool, but as the book progressed, I really got to see how hard it was. I lived her embarrassment, her disappointment, and her anger with each page turn.

Overall, I thought this was a spectacular read and I just know I am going to have to read the next one. Lisa McMann did a great job forming each character and the plot and has a way with words that I only dream of having. So on your next trip to the bookstore, I suggest you pick this one up. It is a quick read, but definitely one that you will want to read again and again.
