Review:

Normally, I am not one to pick up a book like this one. But, I thought, what the heck! Well, even though I wasn't really into reading this before I even picked up the book, I am glad I did. I enjoyed it! Even though I am not within the age range for the book, which I gathered to be at preteen/teenage level, I still thought it had some fantastic ideas that even I could do. One thing that really stuck out to me is the amount o sources. Claire Mysko covered her basis and made sure to use a lot of sources, be it statistics or people. I like books like this that use sources...credible sources.

There is one problem I had with this book though. Throughout the book their are quotations from younger girls, mostly ages 9 and up. Some of the things the youngers girls were quoted to say just had me raise an eyebrow, as I don't know of any girl that young who speaks like that. Regardless, the quotes put things into perseptive for the reader and lets her know that she is not alone.

Overall, I liked the book. It was well written and put together and I think it has the potential to help many young girls who are having a tough time growing up. Heck, I wish I had had a book like this when I was younger, maybe I would have more confidence! Girls, Inc sounds like a fantastic organitzation and I wish we saw more like them in today's soiety. so if you are a teenage girl who feels like nothing ever goes right...pick up this book! This is what you need. I know I will be passing it along to my 11 year old cousin!
